Philly Cheesesteak Stromboli
Ingredients:
1 lb pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 onion, thinly sliced
1 bell pepper, thinly sliced
8 oz thinly sliced roast beef
8 slices provolone cheese
Salt and pepper to taste
Optional: sliced mushrooms, sliced jalapeños, marinara sauce for dipping
Directions:
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add thinly sliced onion and bell pepper. Cook until softened and slightly caramelized, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Remove from heat and set aside.
Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface into a rectangle, about 12×16 inches.
Layer the thinly sliced roast beef evenly over the rolled-out dough, leaving a border around the edges.
Spread the cooked onions and bell peppers over the roast beef.
Place slices of provolone cheese evenly over the onions and bell peppers.
Starting from one of the longer edges, tightly roll the dough into a log, enclosing the filling.
Place the stromboli seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Cut a few slits in the top of the stromboli to allow steam to escape during baking.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the stromboli is golden brown and crispy on the outside.
Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing.
Serve slices of Philly Cheesesteak Stromboli with optional marinara sauce for dipping.
