Homemade Chicken Nuggets
Ingredients:
2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp black pepper
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
2 large eggs
2 tbsp water
2 cups breadcrumbs (panko or regular)
Vegetable oil (for frying)
Your favorite dipping sauces (ranch, barbecue, etc.)
Instructions:
Prepare the Chicken:
Cut the chicken breasts into nugget-sized pieces, about 1 to 1.5 inches each.
Set Up the Breading Stations:
In one shallow dish, mix the flour, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
In a second dish, beat the eggs with the water.
In a third dish, place the breadcrumbs.
Bread the Chicken:
Dredge each piece of chicken in the seasoned flour, shaking off any excess.
Dip the floured chicken into the egg mixture, ensuring it’s completely coated.
Finally, roll the chicken in the breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
Fry the Nuggets:
In a large skillet, heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. The oil should reach around 350°F (175°C).
Fry the chicken nuggets in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
Remove the nuggets with a slotted spoon and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
Serve:
Serve the chicken nuggets hot with your favorite dipping sauces.
Tips:
For extra crispy nuggets, double-coat the chicken by repeating the egg and breadcrumb steps.
If you prefer baking over frying, place the breaded nuggets on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spray with cooking spray, and bake at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through.
