Elevate your breakfast with this decadent Bananas Foster French Toast! Perfectly caramelized bananas, crunchy pecans, and rich syrup transform classic French toast into a gourmet delight.
Ingredients:
1 loaf of brioche or challah bread, sliced thick
4 large eggs
1 cup whole milk
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 tbsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 cup unsalted butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 tbsp rum (optional)
2 large bananas, sliced
1/2 cup chopped pecans
Maple syrup, for serving
Instructions:
Prepare the Custard:
Soak the Bread
2. Arrange the bread slices in a single layer in a shallow dish.
3. Pour the custard mixture over the bread, ensuring each slice is well soaked. Let it sit for at least 15 minutes, flipping the bread halfway through to ensure even absorption.
Cook the French Toast:
4. In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat.
5. Add the soaked bread slices to the skillet, cooking until golden brown and cooked through, about 3-4 minutes per side. Cook in batches if necessary.
Make the Bananas Foster Topping:
6. In the same skillet, melt the remaining butter over medium heat.
7. Add the brown sugar and stir until dissolved.
8. Add the rum (if using) and stir to combine.
9. Add the sliced bananas and chopped pecans, cooking until the bananas are caramelized and the sauce is thickened, about 3-4 minutes.
Assemble and Serve:
10. Place the cooked French toast slices on a serving platter.
11. Spoon the caramelized banana and pecan mixture over the top.
12. Drizzle with maple syrup and serve immediately.
This Bananas Foster French Toast is a showstopper at any breakfast or brunch table. Enjoy every delicious bite!
