For the Cake:

1 box chocolate cake mix (plus ingredients listed on the box)
1 cup mini chocolate chips
For the Cherry Filling:

1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling
1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
For the Whipped Topping:

2 cups heavy whipping cream
1/4 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
For Garnish:

1/4 cup mini chocolate chips
Fresh cherries (optional)
Instructions:

Bake the cake: Prepare the chocolate cake mix according to the package instructions. Fold in 1 cup of mini chocolate chips. Bake in a 9×13-inch pan. Let cool for 15 minutes.
Poke the cake: Using the handle of a wooden spoon, poke holes all over the cake.
Make the cherry filling: In a bowl, mix the cherry pie filling with the sweetened condensed milk. Pour the mixture over the cake, making sure it fills the holes. Let the cake chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
Make the whipped topping: In a large bowl, whip the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form. Spread the whipped cream over the chilled cake.
Garnish: Sprinkle the remaining mini chocolate chips over the top. Add fresh cherries for an extra touch, if desired.
