Sesame Beef

Sesame Beef

Better and Healthier than takeout! You’ll love this Sesame Beef Recipe.

One dish that seems incredibly popular at most Chinese restaurants in America is sesame beef. The problem with this delicious dish is they tend to flash-fry it with tons of oil in the wok and then cook it with a sauce. This homemade takeout-style sesame beef gives you juicy and tender results with the same flavors with much less oil.

Ingredients:
– 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
– 2 tbsp soy sauce
– 2 tbsp cornstarch
– 1 tbsp vegetable oil
– 3 garlic cloves, minced
– 1 tbsp ginger, minced
– 1 red bell pepper, sliced
– 1/4 cup soy sauce
– 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
– 1 tbsp rice vinegar
– 2 tbsp brown sugar
– 1 tbsp sesame oil
– 1 tbsp sesame seeds
– 2 green onions, chopped
– Cooked rice, for serving

Instructions:
1. Marinate the Beef: In a bowl, combine the thinly sliced beef with 2 tablespoons of soy sauce and cornstarch. Mix well and let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.

2. Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix together 1/4 cup soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, and sesame oil. Set aside.

3. Cook the Beef: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef and cook until browned and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

4. Cook the Vegetables: In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and ginger. Stir-fry for about 1 minute until fragrant. Add the sliced red bell pepper and cook for another 2-3 minutes until tender-crisp.

5. Combine and Cook: Return the cooked beef to the skillet. Pour in the prepared sauce and stir well to coat everything evenly. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce has thickened and the beef is well coated.

6. Garnish and Serve: Remove from heat and sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions. Serve immediately over cooked rice.
