WOULD YOU EAT THIS TREMENDOUS TENDER BEEF STIR-FRY WITH BELL PEPPERS
Ingredients:
1 lb beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
2 tbsp vegetable oil
1 red bell pepper, sliced
1 yellow bell pepper, sliced
1 green bell pepper, sliced
1 onion, sliced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tbsp fresh ginger, minced
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tbsp hoisin sauce
1 tbsp rice vinegar
1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water (for thickening)
1/2 cup beef broth
1 tsp sesame oil
Cooked rice, for serving
Sesame seeds and sliced green onions, for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
Prepare the beef: In a bowl, toss the sliced beef with 1 tbsp soy sauce and let it marinate for about 15 minutes.
Cook the beef: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until browned and just cooked through. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
Stir-fry the vegetables: In the same skillet, add a bit more oil if needed. Add the sliced bell peppers and onion, and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until they start to soften. Add garlic and ginger, and cook for an additional minute.
Make the sauce: Return the beef to the skillet. Stir in the remaining soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, and beef broth. Bring to a simmer and cook for 2 minutes. Stir in the cornstarch mixture and cook until the sauce thickens, about 1-2 minutes.
Finish and serve: Drizzle with sesame oil and toss to coat. Serve over cooked rice and garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions if desired.
