Best Soft Christmas Cookies
Ingredients:
– 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
– 1 tsp baking soda
– ½ tsp baking powder
– 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
– 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
– 1 large egg
– 1 tsp vanilla extract
– ½ tsp almond extract (optional)
– 3 tbsp sour cream
– Christmas-themed sprinkles or colored sugar (optional)
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
3. In a large bowl, cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg, vanilla extract, almond extract (if using), and sour cream until well combined.
4. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.
5. Using a tablespoon, scoop dough and roll into balls. Place on prepared baking sheets about 2 inches apart. If desired, lightly press down and top with Christmas-themed sprinkles or colored sugar.
6. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until edges are set but centers remain soft. Avoid overbaking for best softness.
7. Remove from oven and allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
